The Akademy is starting to take place here in Dublin in the PC huts.
My trip went well but it was long long from Canada to Dublin. I’m alive and my luggages has arrived with me. I already met few KDE people out there and it been nice.
No photo from now because I didn’t bring my laptop up the PC huts.
See ya next time
In a few hours I’ll take my first plane of my about 14 hours trip to Dublin.
I’ll leave Sept-Iles around 14h and I will arrive in Dublin the next day at 10:30 local hour. I also stop at Montreal and Toronto.
In Toronto I suppose to meet George Staikos and Jeff Tranter, hopefully I’ll able to find them there, and in Dublin I’m suppose to meet with Olivier Goffart.
This is a big trip for a first one, so I’m nervous since it all a first time for me.
Wish me a nice trip
Man been a while since I’m blogged. Don’t worry I’ll blog more often during Akademy 2006, which I will leave in 12 days !
In preparing for Akademy I bought a new laptop for my school, hacking and travel needs. It is a HP Pavilion dv5230 (Specs),
a nice 15″ Widescreen Intel Centrino Core Duo Laptop with a Intel GMA950. Everything worked out of the box except getting the correct
resolution.
If you the have the same laptop, you sure have problems setting the correct resolution. I found a solution 3 weeks after I bought the laptop ! You just need the 915resolution software. Here the guide to install it on K/Ubuntu Dapper:
sudo apt-get install 915resolution
Open the following file: /etc/default/915resolution and add these following to this file:
MODE=AUTO
XRESO=1280
YRESO=800
BIT=24
Restart and voilà, you get the correct display on reboot
In other news I’m not motivated enough to code on these days, so my commit statistics are really really low
Hope that I will get motivation soon. Also I bought a nice professional 61-key synthesizer that I’ll talk about in another blog post.
