Man been a while since I’m blogged. Don’t worry I’ll blog more often during Akademy 2006, which I will leave in 12 days !

In preparing for Akademy I bought a new laptop for my school, hacking and travel needs. It is a HP Pavilion dv5230 (Specs),
a nice 15″ Widescreen Intel Centrino Core Duo Laptop with a Intel GMA950. Everything worked out of the box except getting the correct
resolution.

If you the have the same laptop, you sure have problems setting the correct resolution. I found a solution 3 weeks after I bought the laptop ! You just need the 915resolution software. Here the guide to install it on K/Ubuntu Dapper:

sudo apt-get install 915resolution

Open the following file: /etc/default/915resolution and add these following to this file:

MODE=AUTO
XRESO=1280
YRESO=800
BIT=24

Restart and voilà, you get the correct display on reboot :)

In other news I’m not motivated enough to code on these days, so my commit statistics are really really low :( Hope that I will get motivation soon. Also I bought a nice professional 61-key synthesizer that I’ll talk about in another blog post.
